Carson Palmer says he let Jordan Addison wear retired No. 3 jersey in 2022
USC Transfer Wide Receiver Jordan Addison, the 2021 Biletnikoff Award winner, will wear former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Carson Palmer’s No. 3 jersey with the Trojans in 2022. Addison wore No. 3 in his first two seasons with Pitt and has got Palmer’s blessing to wear the number this year. . Palmer recently explained why he allowed Addison to wear the number.
“He promised to work his tail and represent all it means to be a Trojan horse, and it would be incredibly humble to wear number 3,” Palmer said, via USC Football.
USC has six retired football numbers — Palmer’s #3, Matt Leinart’s #11, Charles White’s #12, Mike Garrett’s #20, OJ Simpson’s #32 and Marcus Allen’s #33. Reggie Bush’s No. 5 isn’t officially retired, but it hasn’t been worn since Bush’s final season in 2005. USC also has special numbers reserved for exceptional players who aren’t at the retreat: n° 55, n° 35, n° 1, n° 42 and n° 43.
Addison is coming off one of the best individual seasons in Pittsburgh history and, in addition to the Biletnikoff Award, he earned consensus first-team All-American honors after tallying for 1,593 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. He also set a Pittsburgh record with 100 receptions in a single season. His touchdown and receiving yard totals from last season rank second all-time, just behind the legendary receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
Prior to his time at Pitt, Addison was a four-star recruit to 247Sports Composite of Frederick (Md.) Tuscarora. He was also the No. 275 ranked overall recruit and the No. 10 ranked ATH in the recruiting class of 2020.
According to the 247Sports Composite, USC has signed the nation’s top transfer class for 2022 with former Oklahoma stars Caleb Williams and mario williams being the obvious headliners. Other high-end transfers include running back Travis Dyewho played for Oregon last season before heading to USC and Arizona State’s elite defenseman Eric Gentry. He thinks to start immediately at linebacker and join the former Alabama linebacker Shane Lee in the battle for representatives.

“I keep saying it, but it’s true…by the time we kick off Game 1, this will be the most unique roster in school history and one of the most unique rosters in sports history,” Lincoln Riley said. “Because of how this list came together. So a challenge for us to really bond. So, we have to. We have to grow, establish our culture and our identity. And those — the other things are important, but it’s going to be the most important.”
