What to do tonight? 4 drive-ins in New Jersey

By on August 6, 2021 0

While the quarantine definitely affected us more negatively than positively, it brought a few changes that we decided to keep.

One of those things was the overhaul of the drive-thru movies. Drive-ins were something my kids had only seen in movies until last year, and now they’re one of our best family activities.

Drive-ins not only gave people a break from the reality of their 40s, but they really made for a great time with the family. Fortunately, the growing popularity of these drive-ins has been constant and there are plenty of places in Jersey to enjoy a movie. Here are a few.

  • 1

    Delsea Drive-In Theater, Vineland

Opened in 1949, Delsea is one of New Jersey’s oldest authentic drive-ins. They have an onsite restaurant that delivers food and drunks right to your car and showcases lots of new stuff. General admission and parking are $ 11, which makes it a lot cheaper and more fun than at the movies.

  • 2

    Demarest Farms, Hillsdale

Demarest Farms also serves as a garden center and drive location every weekend from July through August. They are best known for showing classic and family movies and tickets often sell out quickly. Admission is $ 25 per car.

  • 3

    Barnegat Summer Drive-In Films, Barnegat

Located on the shore, Barnegat is the perfect place to watch a movie with the family. Admission is free and the movies are meant to entertain children and adults. The films are watched by the magnificent Barnegat quay, where you can also buy ice cream. Admission is completely free, making it a great, inexpensive way to spend your night.

  • 4

    Cranford Theater Drive-In, Cranford

The Cranford Theater doubles as a drive-in cinema several nights a week all summer long in the pool parking lot. Movies start at 8:45 p.m., and they even let you pre-order dealership snacks so they get delivered to your car in time for the movie. Admission is $ 25 per car.
